malleable protag lyfe
May. 20th, 2015 01:21 amName: Ysobel of Alcaire
Race: Breton
Class: Custom Spellsword
Birthsign: Thief
I have three possible paths for Ysobel, depending on the RP scenario or the character I'm threading with. I can also play her from earlier in the game, if, for example, I'm threading with a Dark Brotherhood member.
Mages Guild: Arch-Mage
Fighters Guild: Journeyman
Arena: not a member
Thieves Guild: not a member
Dark Brotherhood: not a member
Knights of the Nine: not a member
This version of Ysobel goes from being an amoral mercenary locked up in the Imperial City to a true hero, converting wholeheartedly to Martin's cause and genuinely befriending him over the course of their adventures, not to mention also casting the necromancers out of the Mages Guild in the process. She regards being the Champion of Cyrodiil as an honor and a grave responsibility.
Mages Guild: Magician
Fighters Guild: Journeyman
Arena: not a member
Thieves Guild: Gray Fox
Dark Brotherhood: not a member
Knights of the Nine: not a member
This version of Ysobel goes from being an amoral mercenary locked up in the Imperial City to a not quite as amoral thief who's backing Martin out of a mixture of self-interest and having some standards about what kind of world-shattering horror she'll put up with. She regards being the Champion of Cyrodiil as very useful and also very funny, given that she's in charge of robbing the great and the good and they have no idea.
Mages Guild: Magician
Fighters Guild: Journeyman
Arena: not a member
Thieves Guild: not a member
Dark Brotherhood: Listener
Knights of the Nine: not a member
This version of Ysobel goes from being an amoral mercenary locked up in the Imperial City to an assassin devoted to her adopted family, who unfortunately are all also assassins. She's backing Martin out of pure, self-interested pragmatism, and is also hedging her bets by seeking the patronage of a power great enough to protect her from Dagon in case Martin should fail. She regards being the Champion of Cyrodiil as a hassle, but also very useful to the Dark Brotherhood.
In any case, Ysobel is a short, slightly-built redhead with a confident bearing and a distinct unwillingness to suffer fools gladly. Despite her new lofty status, she prefers the simple, hard-wearing clothes of an adventurer, and still carries a katana, either the Akaviri sword given to her when she joined the Blades, or Mephala's Ebony Blade...even if her mage's staff can do a lot more damage. To prevent interference with her spellcasting, she wears no armor, instead trusting to enchantment and her own considerable skill in the Alteration (and failing that, Restoration) school to keep herself intact.
Depending on her path, her experiences during the Oblivion Crisis turned her from an unscrupulous mercenary quite rightly locked up in the Imperial City's prison into a staunch Imperial partisan who weathers Council politics out of a sense of duty to the people of the rapidly-fracturing Empire, an underworld kingpin who's not entirely without a moral compass but also doesn't take Council membership as seriously as one would hope, or a hardened cynic loyal only to her own antisocial family, who regards Council membership as an opportunity to advance the ends of the Dark Brotherhood.
